Assassin Spirit 120 EVO: an illuminated fan on a conventional air tower

Assassin Spirit 120 EVO combines a dark tower with a front fan that carries most of the colour. It is an approachable air-cooling layout: the heatsink sits over the CPU, and the fan moves air toward the case exhaust.

Four heat pipes under the fins

Four 6mm heat pipes link the contact area to the fin stack. The single-tower format keeps the layout easy to understand, but it still needs an unobstructed air path through the case.

Think about where warm air will leave before placing additional case fans. Mixing opposing airflow directions can work against the arrangement you intended.

Check the complete installation

Use the specified 156mm height when checking the case. Then look at RAM height, nearby heatsinks and the space needed to release the fan clips. Those details matter when you clean the cooler or upgrade components later.

Keep the correct socket brackets together during installation. Tighten the mounting system evenly as directed in the manual, rather than trying to compensate for a poor fit with extra force.

Separate lighting from fan speed

The 120mm fan uses a 4-pin PWM lead and a separate 3-pin 5V ARGB lead. You can set the colour independently of the cooling profile. Matching one colour with the case fans often makes the hardware easier to appreciate than using several unrelated effects.

Finish with a practical check

  • Confirm the motherboard socket and case clearance.
  • Keep both cables clear of the fan blades.
  • Verify CPU_FAN speed is detected after startup.
  • Check temperatures during a sustained everyday workload.

Choose the EVO when a conventional air tower fits your system and you want the fan to carry the build’s lighting accent.
