A number pad is useful until it pushes the mouse too far to the right. The S98 Aviator brings that section closer to the main keys, giving you a compact desktop layout without giving up quick number entry. Its green, cream and orange colour scheme also gives the desk character before the lighting comes on.
The 98-key arrangement suits a desk used for both games and everyday work. You keep a number pad while reducing unused space between key groups. Allow a little time to learn the closer navigation keys if you are moving from a traditional full-size keyboard; familiar shortcuts may feel differently spaced.
BLMS Red Plus mechanical switches provide a linear action, and the hot-swap sockets accept compatible three-pin and five-pin mechanical switches. That gives you a route to change the typing feel later. Disconnect the keyboard before changing switches, align the pins carefully and avoid forcing a bent pin into the socket.
Silicone damping helps reduce internal resonance, while RGB lets you highlight a few useful keys or choose a restrained colour theme. The manufacturer specifies 24 PBT gaming keycaps rather than a complete PBT set. A detachable USB-C cable makes moving the keyboard easier and keeps charging routines out of the picture: this S98 is wired.
