The useful part of Icon H520 is the choice of audio connection. Use the USB sound controller at your PC, then move to a compatible 3.5mm headset socket when another device needs a simpler analogue link. The black finish, red interior and detachable microphone make it easy to recognise on a busy desk.
The USB audio controller groups volume and microphone controls on the cable. Compatible PC software adds equalizer adjustment and virtual 7.1 processing, giving you a way to compare different listening profiles.
Set the headset as the playback and recording device in your application. If speakers remain selected in a game, changing the Windows default alone may not move that game's audio.
The 3.5mm option works with compatible headset sockets, including devices that do not run Redragon's PC software. A splitter separates headphone and microphone signals for a desktop with two audio sockets.
Check the connector arrangement before swapping devices. USB processing features should not be expected when using an ordinary analogue socket; the device supplies its own audio output in that mode.
The adjustable steel headband supports padded earcups with 50mm drivers. Set the two sides evenly before making small comfort adjustments. Glasses and the position of the cushions can change the seal around your ears.
Bring the flexible microphone near the corner of your mouth and test your voice level. Remove it by the connector when you want headphones alone, and keep it in a safe place rather than loose among cables.
Icon H520 fits a desk that shares a headset between different sources. Its connection options are more useful when you keep the small detachable parts together.
